Benchmark Atlantic Healthcare has been awarded the ABC (American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics) Patient Care Center Accreditation. To be accredited by ABC, we are measured against the most rigorous standards in the profession, but more importantly we are dedicated to providing our clients with the best care possible.

Benchmark Atlantic’s qualified staff hold individual mastectomy fitter certifications with both the American Board of Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) and the Board of Certification (BOC). These are the two most recognized credentialing agencies in this field.

To stay current and well educated on this ever changing industry, Benchmark Atlantic Healthcare is a Corporate Member of The American Association of Breast Care Professionals, a national professional organization that strives to unite all breast care professionals, vendors, manufacturers and retailers under one organization. The AABCP’s mission focuses on the provision of accurate aggregated information and legislative advocacy for the Breast Care Industry.

Cathy Boll, President, ABC & BOC Board Certified Mastectomy Fitter

Cathy owns and operates Benchmark Atlantic Healthcare, Inc. She is a graduate of Western Michigan University, married 28 years and has three grown sons. In 2005, she earned both, Board Certification as a Mastectomy Fitter by the Board of Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (BOC) and a Registered Mastectomy Fitter with the American Board of Certification of Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC). She also has been trained and certified as a Compression Therapy Advanced Fitter through the leading manufacturers of compression garments. The medical equipment company her husband had founded in 2002 refined its focus to cater to Post-Breast Surgery and Compression Therapy Products and Fitting Services to serve the residents of their community and surrounding areas. It was through her sister-in-law’s diagnosis of breast cancer, that Cathy discovered there was an essential need for a woman’s health boutique and a niche that needed to be filled.

Marcia has been on staff with Benchmark Atlantic since 2005. She also has had 7 years of former work experience at an Orthotic and Prosthetic Facility. She is a 17 year breast cancer survivor and co-founder of the successful 15 year-running Barrington Area Y-ME Open Door Support Group at Good Shepherd Hospital. All of our clients are invited and are more than welcome to join this support group that meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

The Y-ME mission of ensuring that “no one faces breast cancer alone” is a personal goal for Marcia that has been met through her involvement with Y-ME, and now with her work at Benchmark Atlantic. Through the years she has established many relationships with her clients who have found her to be trusting, compassionate, reliable and experienced in her knowledge of post-surgery breast care. She has successfully completed two fitting training seminars and 6 years of hands-on professional experience as well as, her personal experience in this field. You’ve found a friend when you meet Marcia.

Theresa Sonneville, Office Manager

Theresa has been on staff with Benchmark Atlantic since 2008. Hers is the friendly, caring, competent voice you will most likely speak to when calling Benchmark Atlantic. With seventeen years of previous experience of helping to manage and grow a medical practice combined with her calm disposition, she keeps our “busy little office” running smoothly and efficiently.

Theresa is an accomplished seamstress. This service is available and often utilized for our clients to sew a pocket into a swimsuit, to make customized alterations to dresses and bras to accommodate specific surgery sites and breast forms and to make repairs and modifications to compression garments. She has also been trained and certified as a Compression Fitter through the leading manufacturers of compression garments. It is a common occurrence to hear Theresa say, I love my job. …and it shows.

Lisa joined Benchmark Atlantic in 2010 after completing her Medical Billing Certificate Program. This training combined with her background in administrative assistance and customer service and with her exceptionally competent and professional personality traits, makes Lisa the ideal person to be handling the insurance end of the business for our clients.

Gina McGuire, Home-Fitting Specialist, Founder of Yoga Me

Gina has launched our newest service of Home Fittings for the Home-bound and Senior Residences. Again, a service was birthed by a need. We were receiving many calls from elderly women who were either former clients who could no longer drive or new clients whose place of business where they formerly received their products were no longer providing this service and we were just too far for them to drive to. By going into their homes Gina provides a very valuable and precious gift to our clients who are home-bound. They too are reminded, they are not alone.

Yoga Me

Gina has received her Certified Yoga Teacher (200 hour) Degree from the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Institute in Palatine and is currently working on her Yoga 500 hour Master’s Degree. She has studied yoga therapy under Gabrial Halpern of Chicago Yoga Circle.

Like many, Gina experienced physical discomfort and challenges following her breast surgery. She had both lymphatic and nerve damage issues. When a friend invited her to her first yoga class following chemotherapy she was hooked. She loved the way yoga made her feel, full of life and youth. And it seemed to help her more than any other exercise had on her road to healing, both with the physical challenges she experienced from surgery as well as the emotional and mental benefits Yoga offers for peace of mind. She became dedicated to the daily practice of yoga and loves “Vinyasa” flow. Yoga me was founded through her aspiration to teach and to pass on to others the benefits of Yoga for one’s health and wellness.

Yoga Me is offering Yoga Classes adjacent to Benchmark Atlantic’s McHenry location, at 5411 Bull Valley Road for clients of Benchmark Atlantic and to anyone who wants to come and discover the benefits of yoga for the mind and body. Gina believes “Yoga is for every – body.”

of Kathleen’s Creative Expressions, with over 25 years of experience in the hair replacement and
wig industry.

Cathy and Kathy have partnered together from the time they both respectively started their businesses in 2004. Their common endeavor, to help women who are facing breast cancer with their self-image has brought them together to work as a team by doing community outreach and designing an Image Renewal Program to assist women in renewing their self image during and after the effects of chemotherapy and breast surgery.
